Sony WF-1000XM6
Full features on Android and iPhone, LDAC and multipoint.
- LDAC
- Multipoint
- Up to 24 h w/ case
Short version: on an iPhone, get AirPods Pro 3 for seamless pairing, Apple’s hearing features and Live Translation. On Android, or if you switch between platforms, get the Sony WF-1000XM6 for LDAC, multipoint and full app support.
Both have excellent active noise cancelling. Sony WF-1000XM6 (2026) works fully on Android and iPhone, supports LDAC and multipoint, and is rated for up to 24 hours with the case. AirPods Pro 3 use Apple’s H2 chip and add heart-rate sensing, Live Translation and hearing-health features, but on Android they are basic Bluetooth earbuds.

Sony’s app works on both Android and iOS, so you get every feature whichever phone you use, plus multipoint to stay connected to a laptop and phone at once.
LDAC gives Android users a higher-bitrate connection than AAC. Foam and silicone tips help you get a good seal, which matters as much for noise cancelling as the electronics.
On iPhone, AirPods Pro 3 pair instantly, switch between your Apple devices automatically and support Hearing Test and the clinical-grade Hearing Aid feature in supported regions.
Heart-rate sensing for workouts and Live Translation are Apple-only extras. On Android you lose those features, so they make little sense there.
Both cancel noise very well. Start with the phone in your pocket.
iPhone points to AirPods Pro 3; Android points to Sony.
Sony’s multipoint works across platforms; AirPods switch automatically between Apple devices.
Try the included tips; a good seal matters as much as the noise-cancelling hardware.
Only AirPods Pro 3 offer Apple’s Hearing Test and Hearing Aid features (supported regions).
On Android, yes. On iPhone, AirPods Pro 3 are usually the better choice because of Apple-only features.
Yes, as Bluetooth earbuds, but without Apple-only features like automatic switching and the hearing features.
Yes. Sony’s app supports iOS, but iPhones don’t support LDAC, so you’ll connect over AAC.
Both are excellent. Fit and ear tips make a bigger difference to your result than the small gap between them.
